you can't cry anymore. because of woke
I've been offline for two months now and the only social media I've kept is Reddit, which is the the unfunny and lame way to keep up with trends. being offline for this long has somewhat jaded me to pop culture discussions and what the internet currently deems as cool and cringe. when you're on the outside of these conversations, it becomes very evident how shallow and vapid so much of discourse is.
what I have been seeing are many posts about the Wicked press tour and how much Ariana and Cynthia have been crying in their interviews, and how annoying they are for crying so much.
I don't know how these women deal with this. I can only imagine how annoyed or hurt they must be to see this response to their vulnerability.
I don't care if it's cringe. nothing is cringe. everything is cringe. what does it matter? why can't we be allowed to be vulnerable?
gen z is such a miserable generation that I'm shocked society is even somewhat functioning as we enter the working world. it's cringe to participate in nightlife, it's cringe to dance at the club, it's cringe to sing at concerts, it's cringe to cry during movies, it's cringe to enjoy your interests where others can see, it's cringe to have hobbies you're enthusiastic about, it's cringe to care about your job. everything is cringe.
these women worked on this movie for over a year and have wanted to play these roles for nearly 20 years. they've spoken repeatedly about how this has been a dream for them and how grateful they are to have had the honor to play these incredibly coveted roles, but the internet shames and mocks them for crying about it.
the birthing and marriage rate is about to tank in this country this is a truly loveless generation.
and who cares about holding space!!! why can't we hold space??? who cares if someone else is holding space? what's so godawful about the phrase "holding space"??????
obviously this is another manifestation of individualism, reactionary rhetoric and the rise of conservatism in gen z to have such an outlandish reaction to something as innocuous as a queer woman saying there's people holding space for the lyrics of a very iconic song and saying that she works in queer media. WE GET IT, YOU HATE GAY PEOPLE IRONICALLY, CAN WE MOVE ON. I'm just so bored of the internet. may the leopards eat all of their faces. do not care.
