morning + night routine
I’m getting my life together again so the first thing that has to be addressed is my sleep schedule and sleep hygiene. a good night’s sleep is the base for a great day!
adults are meant to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night, so I’m setting my bedtime for 10:30 and waking up at 6:30 every day. I read somewhere that you should ideally wake up every day before 8 AM so…
from there my morning routine will ensue as follows:
- 6:30: drink 8oz of water and take some ashwagandha
- 6:35: get up and brush my teeth
- 6:40: make my bed
- 6:45: morning stretches from the bend app
- 7:05: shower
- 7:15: morning skincare
- 7:25: get dressed
- 7:35: rooibos tea + breakfast
and then I will carry on with my day. I do have an 8am class on wednesday though so this may be tweaked…
my night time routine will be less structured in that it doesn’t have such a fast schedule like my morning routine does but it will follow three fundamentals:
- I cannot eat within three hours of my bedtime
- I cannot drink within two hours of my bedtime
- I cannot use any screens within one hour of my bedtime
also you’re not supposed to exercise within 4 hours of your bedtime but I’m kinda iffy on that one.
but because of the above I will do the following every night:
- eat dinner by 7:30
- take meds by 8:30
- turn off my phone + TV + computer for the night by 9:30
the hour before I go to bed will be the allotted time for my night routine. I’m going to have homework and other stuff to do so I’m going to attempt to pack all that into the 3 hours before I go to bed.
the night routine will go as follows:
- 9:30: night stretches from the bend app
- 9:50: shower
- 10:10: nighttime skincare routine
- 10:20: deep belly breathing
I’m really hoping to follow through on my night routine going forward. I had a similar morning routine at the start of 2024 and maintained it for about 2 months before I stopped keeping up with it, but I never stuck to a nighttime routine.
since I have the next three weeks off from school and work, I’ll be taking the time to build these habits so that they’re easier to maintain in the new year.
other tidbits of things I want to do in my daily schedule:
- make time to read the bible daily
- make time to read a chapter of any book I choose
- make time to meal prep/cook
- have allotted times for screens and scrolling
- make time for a 20 minute walk every day
- make time to journal daily !!!
:)
I have hope and positive intentions and optimism for my future and I have enough faith in myself to see it through. I am more than competent.
