journal/book recycling near me
I’m cleaning my room rn because my new bed is being delivered and built on Tuesday. I have finally gotten to the point of cleaning out my bookshelves and I’m just wondering: how can you dispose of old journals/diaries/planners in a way that will not hurt the earth and also won’t put all my personal business out there?
I’m not at all a nostalgia person. I am constantly throwing things out and don’t care to keep most things around for long. this also applies to journals, diaries and notes that I have. I literally do not have any inclination to look at old things I’ve written and would rather get rid of any record of them.
but there is no conclusive answer online for where I could get rid of the mass of journals and planners I’ve accumulated by wanting to be a journal person but not at all having the inclination for journaling. there’s a lot of beginnings, with the first maybe 10 pages used and then the rest is naked as the day it was printed. but those first ten? sheesh.
came across the journal I wrote in that night I tried to kill myself when I was 17 and literally was like Woah. like I can’t bear to look at the furious tear stained strokes on those pages. I don’t even have to read it to feel the intensity from it, just flipping past it made my spirit shiver. now how do I get rid of that? you can’t, like, rip out the pages and donate that to school supply drives. and I don’t want to just throw it in the trash to be burned in the dump, my carbon footprint isn’t good but I’d like to reduce the damage I’m doing as much as I can. how do I get rid of these?
